Baby Travel Checklist

Taking a trip with baby? Every new parent needs to know what to take for overnight stays. You can't very well pack your entire nursery, so below is a list to keep your suitcase lighter.

In addition to a fully stocked diaper bag, pack the following in an additional bag:
  • Extra diapers (about 6 per day)
  • Extra baby wipes
  • Baby seat for the car
  • Car-shade screens for car windows (if driving a long distance, this will help baby nap)
  • Baby stroller (collapsible)
  • Baby carrier or sling
  • Baby crib (collapsible). Often called "Pack n' Play", portable playpen or Travel Crib.
  • Toys, books, etc. to keep baby entertained
  • A Nightlight (if baby is not used to sleeping in darkness)
  • Baby's favorite stuffed animal for sleeping (this helps baby associate the new bed with his usual bed)
  • Baby formula with extra bottles
  • Medication and baby aspirins
  • Sun protection (sunscreen, umbrellas, hats, etc.)
  • Appropriate outerwear (jackets, blankets, etc.)
  • Clothing for baby (about 3 outfits per day)
  • If the place you are going to is not child-proofed, you will want to bring sagfety gates, outlet covers, etc.
